Crowns can be made of white porcelain to blend in with the other teeth naturally or can be fabricated with gold. A crown is placed over a tooth in the case that it has many cavities/fillings or the overall health of it is in jeopardy. This process takes two appointments. In the first, the tooth is prepared and an impression is taken, which is sent out to the lab where the crown is manufactured. During this appointment we create a temporary crown to cover the tooth. After two weeks time, your custom crown is ready. We will then get you in for the second appointment to place the permanent crown.
